A couple was allegedly bludgeoned to death by their son, who is reported to be showing signs of mental distress, at their home at Elamakkara in the city in the early hours of Monday. According to reports, a heavy hammer-like instrument was used to knock down and kill A.S. Shamsu, 60 and his wife Saraswati, 55. Jayan, 30, their son, has been taken into custody by the Elamakkara police.
It was the neighbours who first noticed something amiss after they heard arguments between the man and his mother.
