KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran arriving to give evidence to the G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the solar scam, in Kochi on Monday.

KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran on Monday deposed before the Justice G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the solar scams that there was no relevance in ordering an inquiry at the party level into the scam as the State government had already taken various steps to address the issue.

He told the commission that as part of its efforts to deal with the allegations, the government had appointed the judicial commission and a special investigation team to probe the scam.

Therefore, if the party had taken a decision to probe into the scam, it would have amounted to a parallel investigation and would have been against the rule of law.

He felt that even if any further action was essential on the part of the party, the party could take such steps only after the commission submitted its report.

He said that the terms of reference of the commission had specified that the allegations levelled inside and outside the Assembly could be inquired into by the Commission.

He told the commission that the KPCC had no role in appointing the personal staff of the Chief Minster and other Ministers. The Ministers appointed persons of their choice as their personal staff.
