When competitions in five items were completed in Noopura-2007, the arts festival of Mahatma Gandhi University Union, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, was leading with 14 points.

St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, and Muslim Education Society College, Marampaly, with 10 points each were close behind at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the second day of the fete.

Delays

The large number of contestants in each item has been delaying the programmes, posing much difficulties to the organisers.

The participants from about 300 colleges attached to the university were heard complaining about the lack of basic facilities at different venues. Students were put to much hardship in the scorching sun owing to the failure on the part of the organisers to provide adequate drinking water at various venues.

Competitions are being held at seven venues.

The main venue has been set up at the panchayat stadium.

Five venues have been arranged at St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry, and another one at MGM Auditorium at Thekkemala.

As many as 5,000 students are participating in the competitions at the five-day fete.
