He was inaugurating the ‘sadguna’ literacy project meant for inmates of the Borstal School. The project has been conceived jointly by the Borstal School under Department of Prisons, District Panchayat and the State Literacy Mission, aimed at reforming juvenile delinquents and bringing them back to the mainstream society.
Children get deviated to the world of crime through various influences, including that of media. This cannot be addressed by the law alone. Parents and teachers should be right models for the children, Mr. Babu said.
Benny Behnan, MLA, presided and Eldhose Kunnappallil, president of District Panchayat, delivered the keynote address. Bindu George, vice president, district panchayat, distributed the games kit and K.K. Soman, chairman of the standing committee of education, district panchayat, inaugurated the rainwater harvesting project.

The district panchayat distributed uniform and study material to the inmates of the School.
