RPF Mitra launched at North station

Thirty-four women rail passengers have volunteered to work as RPF Mitra, a community policing campaign launched by the Railway Protection Force at the Ernakulam North Railway Station on Wednesday.

The campaign, inaugurated by Mayor Soumini Jain, was part of the RPF Mitra Yojana and in connection with observing 2018 as women safety year. C. Gireesh, Inspector of RPF at Ernakulam North, said those volunteering to function as RPF Mitra would report incidents with a security angle to the RPF control room or any individual unit. The campaign also placed stress on helpline No. 182 that can be dialled in case of a security issue on trains or railway premises.
