Road safety campaign ends


Subhayatra, the Road Safety Campaign, taken up by Student Police Cadets ended with much glitter and glamour despite the overcast skies in the evening. Actor Jayasurya interacted with students and distributed pledge cards at the Vasco da Gama Square, Fort Kochi beach road, on Thursday evening.

Earlier in the day, actor Captain Raju joined Corporation councillor Gracy Joseph and Muralidharan to distribute the cards at Kaloor Junction. Actor Kalpana and Tripunithura municipal vice chairperson Thilothama Suresh joined the SPCs at Tripunithura. Actor Sarayu, Mr. India Runner-up Sooraj and Deputy City Police Commissioner T. Gopalakrishna Pillai participated in Subhayatra at Menaka Junction at 5 p.m.

Nearly 220 SPCs from different schools in the city participated in the 10-day-long campaign and spread the message about safe driving. Cards were distributed to 85,500 drivers in the city, which included 41,250 pledge cards and 44,250 awareness cards.. The media firm Getit Infoservice distributed nearly 3,000 pamphlets on traffic safety.
