Citizens’ groups in the city protested against the verdict in the Walayar case and demanded another probe into the rape and death of the two sisters.

Around 30 people dressed in black gathered in protest in front of the office of the Inspector General of Police on Sunday morning.

The protest was organised by citizens’ groups, ‘For Justice’ and ‘Women of Kochi’, to draw attention towards the failure of the administration, police and judiciary in ensuring justice to the victims.

They protested the lack of action against issues of women’s safety and demanded the suspension of officers involved in the investigation that led to the aquittal of four out of five of the accused.
