Private bus operators have dropped their proposed strike after talks with District Collector S. Suhas.

The strike, which was planned for September 20, was dropped in view of the inconvenience it might cause to passengers. Bus operators and employees’ representatives had issued the strike notice highlighting issues such as KSRTC service timings clashing with those of private buses and the disorderly traffic at Vyttila.

Bus operators have been demanding that they be allowed to use the Vyttila underpass and obstructions on the service road beside the bypass be removed.

Meanwhile, the district administration has requested the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to remove obstructions on the service road, while the Kochi Corporation and the Public Works Department have been asked to make the road fit for use within a week.
