Poornojwala Monsoon Fest from today

Odissi by Dona Ganguly, Thayambaka led by noted chenda exponent Mattannur Sankarankutty, Hindustani concernt by Savani Shinde and a slew of traditional and classical art forms will be part of the Poornojwala Monsoon Fest 2015 beginning June 21 in Tripunithura.

The eight-day festival organised by Vedadhwani Cultural Trust, will have Sopana Sangeetham, Carnatic music, Ottanthullal, Koodiyattam and Kathakali on various days at the Layam Koothambalam.

The Festival will begin on Sunday morning with Panchavadyam led by noted artists Cheruplassery Sivan and Kariyannur Narayanan Namboodiri at 10 a.m. The inaugural function will be held at 5 p.m. It will be followed by Hindustani concert by Mrs. Shinde at 7 p.m.

Sopana Sangeetham by Ambalapuzha Vijayakumar will be held on Monday which will be followed by Mattannur’s Thayambaka. Carnatic musician Nityashree Mahadevan will perform on June 23. On June 24, Thiruvathirakali will be held by Kannankulangara Women’s group followed by Chakyarkoothu by Painkulam Narayana Chakyar. Balivadham in Koodiyattam will be performed on June 25 by Painkulam Ramachakyar Smaraka Kalapeedom. Dona Ganguly’s programme is scheduled for June 26. On June 27, Sree Rama Pattabhishekam Kathakali will be performed. On the final day, Neena Prasad perform Mohiyattam. The festival will culminate with Pandimelam led by Sukapuram Dileep.
