PM’s visit: heavy security arrangements in city

Modi to arrive at naval airport at 1.55 p.m. on Sunday; to inaugurate a slew of projects in Kochi

The city will come under a security net on Sunday in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

Even remote control keys of vehicles will be out of bounds of the venue where Mr. Modi will inaugurate BPCL projects. The keys will have to be left behind in the cloak room at the entrance.

The Prime Minister who will arrive at the Kochi naval airport at 1.55 p.m. will fly out in a helicopter to Rajagiri College ground. He will then proceed by road to Kochi Refinery where he will inaugurate a slew of projects.

Mr. Modi will visit the main control console of the refinery before dedicating the integrated refinery expansion complex to the nation at 2.35 p.m. The venue near the refinery will also play host to the inauguration of the new petrochemical complex and the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ettumanoor-based skill development institute and the LPG bottling plant storage facility.

Entry will be restricted to invited guests against special passes. The Governor, Chief Minister, Ministers, and MLAs will attend.

The Prime Minister will leave for Thrissur at 3.30 p.m. and return to the Kochi naval airport at 5.45 p.m. He will then fly back to Delhi on the special aircraft.

Traffic arrangements

Traffic will be regulated within the Kochi City East Traffic limits on Sunday. Owing to restrictions on Seaport-Airport Road, vehicles headed for Thripunithura from Kalamassery and Kakkanad should take the Palarivattom bypass from the collectorate signal junction at Kakkanad. Motorists bound to take the road in front of Park Residency Hotel at Kakkanad should also follow suit.

From Aluva

Vehicles from Aluva, Perumbavoor, Wonderla and Pallikkara regions should take left from Karimugal Junction and turn to Peechingachira Junction and then head to Thiruvankulam via Puthencruz.

Vehicular movement from Puthencruz Junction in the direction of Peechingachira and Karimugal, Hill Palace to Ambalamugal, Karingachira Junction to Irumpanam Junction, and Eroor to Irumpanam will remain banned.

Motorists headed in the direction of SN Junction in Thripunithura from Eroor should proceed along Kizhakkekotta Junction.
