Patriarch to meet Pranab, Modi

Ignatius Aphrem II, head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, who arrives here on an 11-day India visit on February 7, is scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.

He will be in Kerala as a State guest, and will be received at the international airport here by head of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Catholicos Baselios Thomas I and ministers representing the State government.

The key events during the Patriarch’s visit are his scheduled address at the Maramon Convention and address to the synod of the bishops of the church that will be held at the Puthenkurisu Patriarchal Centre on February 7.
