Over 2 kg of ganja seized in Kochi

The Thadiyittaparambu police arrested a man and seized over 2 kg of ganja from his house.

The arrested is Cheriyan Joseph, 31, of Kizhakkamabalam. The narcotic was seized in a raid conducted on a tip-off. A digital balance too was seized from the house.

The accused reportedly used to sell small lots of ganja mainly among youngsters. He has cases registered against him at Ernakulam Central, Viyyur, Hill Palace, Aluva, Edathala and Thadiyittaparambu police stations.

A special investigation squad will further probe the case. A team comprising Inspector V.M. Curzon, Sub Inspectors T.C. Rajan and V.M. Ali, Assistant Sub Inspectors K.P. Abu and Ibrahim Kutty, senior civil police officers Anwar Sadat, P.M. Shameer, and Shihab, and civil police officers Arun K. Karun, Vipin Eldhose, and Ansar made the arrest.

Wanted man arrested

The Panangad police on Saturday arrested a man who was wanted in several cases, including attempt to murder. Rony, 24, of Nettoor was picked up from a rented home near Edathala where he was reportedly hiding.

A team led by Inspector Manoj made the arrest.

Robbery bid

The Aluva police on Saturday arrested one more person in connection with the assault on a man and attempt to snatch his chain.

The arrested is Yadu Krishnan, 21, of Nayarambalam. A minor had already been arrested in the case.

The incident took place on March 6 when the victim was attacked near the railway overbridge. However, the attackers fled on seeing his friends rushing towards them. The accused had been absconding since then. He was produced before the court and remanded.

A team led by Sub Inspectors K.V. Joy and A.U. Santhosh Kumar and civil police officers Mahin Shah, Abubacker, Muhammed Ameer, and A.A. Ansar made the arrest.
