The low number of applications received for the adalat organised by the Kochi Corporation has left the civic authorities baffled.

Till Tuesday, the authorities received only 12 applications, with most of them pertaining to building permits. The last date for filing the applications is July 10.

The low number of applications for the adalat, which is to be held at the Ernakulam Town Hall on July 15, comes at a time when there are 387 applications pending in various zonal offices of the local body. Of these, 350 belonged to building permits and the rest were related to issuance of occupancy certificates, civic officials said.

In some cases, the applications were not cleared for want of statutory No Objection Certificates from agencies including the Railways, Fire and Rescue Department and the Kerala State Pollution Control Board. The State government has sought the presence of the representatives of these agencies at the adalat so that the applications could be cleared there, officials said.
