It is double delight for film actor Mammootty. For, as a father he must be proud of the good reviews his son Dulqar Salman's debut movie Second Show has attracted, while as an actor, it must be equally reassuring for him to see the number of his fans in Facebook edging past one lakh. No wonder that the fans felt the need for a celebration to mark what they saw as a numerically important milestone in the life of their favourite actor.

So, they just dropped in at the shooting location of the actor's forthcoming movie Cobra at Kalamassery. Mammootty obliged and cut a cake in a simple function.

The occasion assumed more importance philanthropically by the unexpected visit of a guest.

Cheque handed over

Susheela George, the chairperson of the Abu Dhabi-based Sherwood International School, was among the friends the actor won through Facebook.

A request posted by Mammootty in Facebook seeking help from good hearted people for free heart surgeries of children being conducted through the charity organisation Care and Share International Foundation, of which he is the patron, had drawn Ms. George in.

She immediately pledged Rs.1 crore for this noble endeavour and had, as an initial contribution, handed over Rs. 20 lakh soon thereafter, through her manager.

Ms. George was meeting Mammootty for the first time on Monday and to make the occasion memorable, she handed over a cheque for another Rs. 30 lakh.

So far, the Care and Share International Foundation has carried out 98 heart surgeries for children from poor families.
