As part of the Clean Air Ernakulam project of the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), the Road Transport Office (Enforcement) began checking pollution checking centres in Ernakulam

A few centres suspected to have issued certificates without checking vehicles for polluting emissions were served show-cause notices ahead of suspension of their licences. The police will lodge criminal charges against those using fraudulent software to issue certificates.

Enforcement RTO K.M. Shaji said more centres would be screened soon.
