M.M.Mani being haunted: Natesan

July 15, 2012 08:30 pm | Updated 08:30 pm IST - MUNNAR:

SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that the former CPI(M) Idukki district secretary M.M. Mani is being haunted and charged for a crime he did not have done.

Mr Vellappally was addressing reporters after the three-day leadership training camp of the SNDP Yogam which concluded in Munnar on Sunday. In the constant class-struggle between the land lord and the workers, people from both the side had to pay heavily and many lost their lives. Mr Mani’s contribution for withstanding the bourgeois agenda and leading a struggle against it in the district cannot be trivialised. He has a place in the minds of the working class in the district and he hoped that Mr Mani would come out clean on charges registered against him. Mr Vellappally said that the media and some people helped in making it a major issue and it was blown out of proportion. He said that the Onchiyam incident (murder of T.P Chandrasekharan, of Revolutionary Communist Party) and the Neyyattinkara by-election highlighted it an issue and the comments of Mr Mani got unprecedented importance because of the time made it ( At a speech at Manakkad near Thodupuzh on May 25, Mr. Mani said that the party had a hit list and three of its opponents had been killed). Mr Nateasan said that the class-struggle was still continuing but in the grab of a different kind.
