Protesters take out march; work on project progresses without interruptions

No giving up: Protesters block a road at Puthuvype on Thursday.

The hartal called by residents of Puthuvype protesting against the alleged police atrocity against protesters at the Puthuvype LPG import terminal of the IOC on Wednesday evoked mixed reaction, with local residents staging blockades at various places.

The protesters staged demonstrations near Goshree bridge and Puthuvype in the morning. More than 100 agitators were arrested.

500 arrested

A protest march was taken out from Puthuvype church to Perumbilly Junction where the agitators squatted on the road. Around 500 people were arrested.

Meanwhile, work on the IOC project progressed without any interruptions during the day.
