Migrant labourer found dead

In a gruesome murder, a 26-year-old construction worker hailing from Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu was found murdered under the Ernakulam North railway over bridge in the wee hours on Sunday.

According to police, the person, identified as Selvam, died after he was struck on the head by a heavy object. The body was first spotted by the police patrol team which passed through the spot at around 4 am.

“Muthuraj, a friend of the deceased Selvam, was found sleeping a few metres from spot where the body had been lying. Muthuraj had accompanied Selvam to the North Railway station on Saturday evening to meet a woman and slept under the over bridge where beggars and rag pickets camp at night”, said the police

During interrogation, Muthuraj told the police that Selvam had come to the station to hand over money to the woman. The body was moved to Ernakulam General Hospital for post-mortem. The Ernakulam north police have registered a case and started investigation.

Selvam died after he was struck on the head by a heavy object.
