Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) will soon launch a collaborative online platform for its researchers. Accordingly, all research centres under the varsity, including those attached to its departments and affiliated colleges, will be covered by the initiative.

“The idea is to establish a broad academic linkage among researchers. It will be like an online research cluster where stakeholders will engage in effective communication that will help in stepping up the quality of research output,” said R. Pragash, Syndicate member and convener of the examination sub-committee.

The online platform will offer researchers an opportunity to explore the possibilities of joint work in select areas.

“By sharing a wide variety of information related to specific areas, researchers can connect with each other to enhance the scope of their work,” Dr. Pragash added.

The platform will have details pertaining to academic and infrastructure facilities under each research centre. It will include information related to research equipment available at each centre, besides projects undertaken by researchers.

“The online research cluster is part of efforts by the varsity to scale up the quality of research work by faculty members and students. We hope that such a platform will foster new academic linkages and develop a mutually beneficial community,” Dr. Pragash said.

The online cluster will share information on papers and journals published by various research centres. It will encourage researchers to identify areas of mutual interest and come out with joint research papers and publications on select areas. The varsity will prepare the draft guidelines for the proposed research platform. They will be circulated among departments and affiliated colleges before the launch of the cluster.

A core group of senior researchers will monitor the functioning of the collaborative research platform. They will meet regularly to update themselves on the numerous possibilities of the initiative.
