Meet to decide on metro coaches

January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:57 am IST - KOCHI

Clarity on Kochi Metro’s coach specifications is expected after a meeting between senior officials of DMRC and KMRL on Monday.

This comes in the backdrop of fears that coaches might not arrive on time since DMRC has reportedly not issued manufacturing clearance to French firm Alstom that is to supply 75 coaches for the metro. “Following Monday’s meeting, systems officials of both the agencies will meet and finalise all specifications. During January 6 meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had directed the two agencies to sort out all pending issues within a week,” sources said.

MD visit

In the meantime, DMRC’s MD Mangu Singh is expected to arrive here on Sunday along with a team of senior officials. They will inspect the metro corridor and hold meetings with officials based here, before leaving on Monday.

Dani Thomas, Chief Administrative Officer of Southern Railway is DMRC’s new project director for Kochi Metro. He is expected to assume office in the metro agency’s Kochi office on Monday.
