Marine Drive upkeep: notice served on Corpn., GCDA

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Kochi Corporation and the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) on a petition seeking a directive to ensure proper upkeep of Marine Drive.

The petition was filed by Ranjit G. Thampy of Kochi. According to him, Marine Drive areas were in a pitiable condition. The walkway was waterlogged and had stinking garbage piles, broken chairs and non-functional lights. There were not even sanitation facilities. Though a complaint was raised with the authorities, no action had been taken yet, the petitioner alleged.
