Maradu Aneesh found guilty

The Ernakulam Additional District sessions court on Monday found gang leader Aneesh Antony aka Maradu Aneesh, guilty in the attack against his rival Bhai Nazeer.

Considering the case, Judge EM Muhammad Ibrahim found Aneesh guilty under provisions of the Arms Act and carrying out the attack by forming unlawful assembly. Of the six accused in the case, Aneesh was the only person to be identified by the complainant.The case pertains to the attack on Nazeer in January 2002, registered by the Panangad police. Police had then registered a case against Aneesh under the Arms Act.

The trail of the case was disrupted after members of the two gangs clashed on the court premises on December 20, 2013.

Nazeer, hailing from Nettoor near Panangad, and Aneesh from Maradu, are accused in several cases of dacoity and theft. They were also booked for cases of attempted murder and extortion.The bitter feud between the two gangs allegedly broke out after Sinoj, whom a police officer described as Aneesh’s right-hand man, was killed in a shootout with the Tamil Nadu police in 2012.

Of the six accused in the case, Aneesh was the only person to be identified by the complainant.
