The North police on Wednesday arrested a person on the charge of stealing a mobile phone.

The arrested is Raju, 60, of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram. He is accused of stealing the phone of a staffer of the Holy Family Church at Semitherimukku when a wedding reception was under way at the church hall on May 12.

Following a power failure during the reception, those at the church went to the hall when the accused allegedly stole the phone from the reception area. The police had been looking for him after identifying him with the help of CCTV footage when he landed in their net at Pachalam. He had by then sold the phone to a migrant at ₹5,000.

He was produced in court and remanded.
