The Assembly has become a venue for the ruling and Opposition benches to lock horns while ignoring the problems being faced by the common man, V.R. Krishna Iyer, former Supreme Court judge, has said.

In his address after inaugurating ‘Shadow Assembly', a forum comprising luminaries from various fields aimed at addressing the issues affecting common man, here on Saturday, Mr. Iyer said that the Assembly lacked serious discussions concerning the public.

He said that the legislative members should not forget the fact that they have reached that position using the people's mandate.

Mr. Iyer said that the Assembly should become a platform for resolving the problems faced by the people.

K.S. Radhakrishnan, former Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, presided over the function.

T.V. Ramakrishnan, former judge of the Kerala High Court, P.C. Cyriac, former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, and senior lawyers Govind K. Bharathan and M.R. Rajendran Nair, spoke.
