District panchayat president K.P Kunhammedkutty said here on Sunday that all the 27,626 houses to be built by the district panchayat under the EMS housing project at an estimated cost of Rs. 65 crore would be completed on time.
He said the keys of 1,050 houses under the scheme would be handed over to its owners at a public function on May 25.
Mr. Kunhammedkutty said the district panchayat had decided to take a loan of Rs.44.97 crore from the district cooperative banks to complete the work on the remaining houses.
He was explaining the details of the district panchayat meeting held at the District Panchayat Bhavan here recently.
He said 7,057 persons did not have the required land area in their possession to build a house and hence they would be given land also.
School maintenance
The district panchayat president said the meeting had decided to serve show-cause notice to the Principals of schools that had failed to complete the annual maintenance works of the school buildings in spite of issuing adequate funds for the same.
