A toll-free number to report corruption and the introduction of double-engine jhankar in the Vypeen-Fort Kochi route are among the many promises included in the 17-point draft manifesto released by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to fight the election to the Corporation.

Solutions to some of the perennial problems ailing the city find mention in the manifesto released here by CPM State Secretariat member Elamaram Kareem on Friday.

Resolving water logging and drinking water shortage, focus on long pending road networks and flyovers, extension of Metro Rail to Fort Kochi, operating night bus services and encouraging night trade, find a mention in the manifesto.

Piped natural gas will be supplied through connections from the main liquefied natural gas pipeline from the Petronet LNG terminal at Puthuvype as part of the city gas project. All transport systems in Greater Kochi region will be unified.

A smart card project will be implemented.

In the preface, people have been requested to give their opinions and suggestions to LDF workers making door-to-door visits or to drop them in boxes placed at important centres. The manifesto would be finalised after incorporating people’s suggestions and getting it approved in Janasabhas.
