Land acquisition to be intensified

A meeting held on Friday decided to intensify land acquisition for the proposed Kochi metro rail.

District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed said that the acquisition of land for widening of Banerjee Road, M.G. Road, and North overbridge would be completed immediately.

The meeting led by Kochi Metro Rail Corporation managing director Tom Jose discussed matters with regard to land acquisition. Mr. Pareed expressed hope of securing relevant orders for acquisition following discussions with the Revenue Secretary slated for Monday.

Deputy Collector for Land Acquisition and officials concerned will visit Thiruvananthapuram for the discussion. The meeting decided to set up a ramp alongside the KSRTC depot considering the construction of an overbridge that is on at Salim Rajan Road. It was also decided to complete the maintenance work of all roads concerned in view of the traffic diversion as part of overbridge construction.
