Minister for Culture Saji Cherian said on Friday that the government would consider setting up a film museum in Kochi, if the corporation takes initiative in providing five acres for the project.

He was replying to a request from Mayor M. Anilkumar. Mr. Cherian hoped that the LDF government would be able to continue organising the annual regional International Film Festival of Kerala in Kochi.

T.J. Vinod, MLA, requested the Minister to consider holding the IFFK in Kochi. N.S. Madhavan, writer, urged theatre owners to take the lead in screening world cinema as done earlier in theatres like Sreekumar in Thiruvananthapuram, Menaka in Kochi, and Crown in Kozhikode. Renowned directors like Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Aravindan had emerged after watching the legendary films in these theatres, he said.
