Indian Oil Corporation has issued a warning on behalf of oil marketing companies that a number of fake websites had been created by unknown persons or agencies, giving false offers for appointment of LPG distributors under the Prime Minister’s Ujwala Yojana or the erstwhile Rajeev Gandhi LPG Vitarak Yojana.

Incidentally, the layout of such fake websites is similar to that of original websites of oil marketing companies, said a press release here.

It added that fake e-mails were also being sent from various sites. The public is, therefore, advised to visit only the official websites of oil marketing companies for information. They are also advised to lodge complaints with cyber crime branches.
