Information campaign on Central schemes to begin on Monday

Press Information Bureau, Thiruvananthapuram, will organise Bharat Nirman, a three-day public information campaign, at St. Mary's Church Auditorium, Paingalam in Karur here on Monday.

The campaign is aimed at spreading information on the developmental and welfare schemes of the Union government.

Seminars on various development schemes, including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, Right to Information Act, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, 15-point programme for minorities and Right to Education Act will be held as part of the campaign.

An exhibition showcasing the progress of various Centrally-sponsored schemes with special reference to Kottayam will be organised.

Discussions on the various facets of rural development, agriculture, health, women empowerment, and education; free eye-treatment camp; educational guidance; competitions for women and children; and cultural programmes will also form part of the campaign.

The campaign is organised in association with various Central and State Departments, Kottayam district panchayat, Karur grama panchayat, Kottayam district administration and other organisations.

Finance Minister K.M. Mani will inaugurate the programme. Jose K. Mani, M.P., will preside over the programme. District Collector Mini Antony will deliver the keynote address.
