: As the game kicked off at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester, England, on Sunday night, a collective chant of ‘glory glory Man United’ erupted in a small coffee shop in the heart of the city.
And spearheading the Man-U wave is Red Devils Kerala, a bunch of Manchester United Football Club fans, who have been recognised as the first Manchester United Supporters Club-Kerala (MUSCK).
The official word came on December 31, a red letter day even otherwise for the Man-U fans worldwide since it’s the birthday of Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager who took the club to dizzying heights.
Now, they are waiting for a letter signed by the current manager Louis Van Gaal. This will be the third in the country after Bangalore and Mumbai.
Buoyed by the recognition, MUSCK now plans to reach out to the underprivileged children through football besides conducting football tournaments and quiz competitions to mobilise funds for social welfare activities. A celebration has also been planned on Saturday to celebrate the receipt of official status.
