A 25-year-old woman from Thiruvananthapuram was arrested by the Tripunithura police on charges of stealing gold ornaments from various households where she stayed as a home nurse.

Shoba Antony had decamped with gold ornaments weighing nearly 3.2 sovereigns last Sunday from a house at Irimpanam where she was employed through a home nurse recruiting agency.

The police tracked her movements through her mobile phone.

The probe led by M. Baiju Poulose, Circle Inspector, and P.R. Santhosh, Sub-Inspector, Tripunithura, revealed that she reached Thiruvananthapuram on the night she left Tripunithura. She then headed for Adimali. She was arrested on her way back to Kadhinamkulam from Adimali, the police said.

The police suspect her involvement in various unsolved theft cases. Shoba had spent six months in jail for a similar offence committed in Kottayam and another six months in a case involving brewing of illicit liquor.
