Holi celebrated with gaiety in Kochi

Former judge of Supreme Court V.R. Krishna IyerV.R. Krishna Iyer inaugurated the Holi celebrations organised by the Rajasthani community at Maharajas’ College ground on Monday. He said Holi was a festival of love, peace, and compassion that united the country and spread colour in everyone’s mind.

Mr. Iyer along with other guests, including literary critic M.K. Sanoo, were ushered into the venue of celebration by crowning them with traditional style head gear. Dance was performed and sweets distributed before the community members threw colour at each other.

Many streets in Fort Kochi and other West Kochi areas where North Indian communities are settled in large numbers witnessed Holi celebrations Festivities were rather limited in scale since exams are under way and Holi is not a holiday here unlike in their home States.
