‘Govt. to create faculty posts at medical colleges’

January 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - KOCHI:

Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said government will take remedial measures as suggested by the Medical Council of India to get recognition accorded to the Government Medical College, Ernakulam, and T.D. Medical College in Alappuzha renewed. He was reacting to media reports that the council had decided not to renew the recognition of four medical colleges in the State, including the two government institutions, for want of facilities and faculty members.

Mr. Sivakumar said the government had not yet received official intimation in this regard. But the government would soon complete the process of creating additional faculty positions at Government Medical College, Ernakulam and T.D. Medical College. “We will also step up infrastructure based on the recommendations given by the council,” he said.
