Govt offers aid to Umbayi’s family

To offer solatium of ₹2 lakh

The government will support the kin of late ghazal singer Umbayi with a solatium of ₹2 lakh from the culture welfare fund, Culture Minister A.K. Balan has said.

Financial support to the family will also be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Mr. Balan visited Umbayi’s residence, Umbayi’s Gazal, at Shanti Nagar Colony at Koovapadam in Fort Kochi on Saturday and spent about half-an-hour with the singer’s bereaving family.

The Minister was accompanied by K.J. Maxi, MLA.
