The State government has accorded administrative sanction for the widening of the 2.50-km stretch of Seaport-Airport Road from Collectorate Junction to Infopark Expressway entrance into a four-lane track at an estimated cost of ₹74.07 crore as a preparatory work of Phase-II of the Kochi metro project.

The government had already given sanction for the revised detailed project report for Phase II at an estimated cost of ₹2,310 crore and recommended it to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

“We are happy that the State has given sanction for the widening of the stretch. KMRL will begin the initial process for tendering immediately,” said A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, managing director, KMRL.
