Gold jewellery stolen from house

The South police have registered a case in connection with the alleged theft of around 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments from a house in Girinagar.

The family was away visiting relatives in the US, and the theft came to light when they returned on Monday. According to the police, the theft was carried out by breaking the door.

The police have registered a case invoking IPC Sections 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in housing, dwelling etc.). The police have launched a probe and are examining CCTV footage.
