A girl student of UC College, Aluva, drowned in the Periyar on Monday around 1.45 p.m. The deceased was identified as Midhuna Shivan, 20, a third year BA Malayalam student from Choondi. According to the police, she had gone to the ghat near the college along with her friends during lunch break when she accidentally slipped and fell into the river.
