Programme aims to enhance confidence of children

For tribal students from the eastern suburbs of the district, it was a memorable outing in the bustling city of Kochi on Saturday.

A Kochi metro trip and visit to a shopping mall were the high points for the higher secondary students from pre-metric hostels at Pinavoorkudi and Mathirapilly in Kothamangalam and Neriamangalam.

They were brought here for a two-day visit as part of Prayaan 2019, a cultural fest organised by Rajagiri Outreach, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Bengaluru-based Christ University.

“The objective of the programme was to give them greater exposure and thereby enhance their confidence,” said Meena Kuruvilla, Project Director, Rajagiri Outreach. The students will also get to visit the Cochin International Airport on Sunday before returning to their hostels. Earlier in the day, district panchayat president Asha Sanil received the visiting students. The day was wrapped up with a cultural evening.
