Flyover work reviewed

PWD set to begin casting of two 40-metre girders

December 11, 2018 10:45 pm | Updated 10:45 pm IST - KOCHI

The two pre-cast girders that have to be placed on the Kochi metro viaduct at Vyttila will be launched by January 15, so that the PWD (NH wing) can begin casting a pair of 40-metre-long girders for the six-lane flyover that is coming up at the junction, it was decided at a meeting convened in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday by Kamala Vardhana Rao, Principal Secretary of PWD.

One metro girder will be placed before December 25, while the second one will be launched by January 15. This will make available space at the junction for casting girders for the flyover.

Officials of the KWA and KSEB agreed to relocate pipelines and cables from beneath the flyover site by February, so that the PWD can build the flyover’s approach span on the Palarivattom side, Mr. Rao said.
