The district administration has urged the families that had lost their homes completely in the floods to submit the required documents for getting financial assistance without delay.
District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla, who addressed the flood-hit persons and elected representatives at Choornikara near Aluva on Tuesday, said the delay in submitting the documents would affect the timely completion of the construction of new houses.
Those who were excluded from the list of persons eligible for getting the government assistance could submit their appeals till Wednesday. They should submit copies of their property deed, identity card, bank passbook, ration card and mobile number to the officials concerned.
The Collector also requested the elected representatives to ensure that the flood-hit families submit the documents at the earliest.
The district administration would also check if there were any ineligible people in the beneficiary list, he said. The houses that had suffered more than 75% damage will be included under the list of completely damaged homes. There are 3,003 families who lost their houses completely.
₹4 lakh aid
The government will provide ₹4 lakh each to construct new houses. The first instalment will be ₹95,100. The half of the remaining assistance will be released when 25% of the construction work will be complete. The rest of the funds will be given when 75% of the construction is over. The district administration will provide the assistance only to those families who submit a written agreement that it will be used for constructing houses only.
The district administration will directly take the initiative in constructing houses for those who cannot do it themselves.
