Fishermen cautioned

Fishermen along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast have been advised to be cautious while venturing out into the sea over the next 24 hours.

A depression over east-central Arabian Sea moving west- north- westward had intensified into a deep depression that lay centred on east central Arabian Sea about 490 km west-south-west of Goa and 570 km south-south-west of Mumbai on Saturday afternoon.

Cyclonic storm

It would move north-westwards and may intensify into a marginal cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, it would move west-north-westwards and weaken gradually from October 12, said a PIB statement on Saturday.

Fishermen have been cautioned not to venture out into deep sea along and off the Konkan, Goa and Karnataka coasts during this time, said the statement.
