A major fire broke out at an eatery functioning from a multi-storey building at SN Junction at Palarivattom on Monday evening. No casualties were reported.

Officials said the fire had erupted from the kitchen of New Aryas Tiffin Centre around 4.30 p.m. The restaurant was gutted completely, while two shops in the same building were partially damaged.

As the flames spread to more areas, people came rushing out of the building. On an alert, a team from the Gandhinagar fire and rescue services unit rushed to the spot and doused the fire in an hour.

Preliminary investigations attributed the incident to LPG cylinder leakage at the eatery.
