Facebook is committed to protecting the data of all users while making space for everyone to connect across the globe, Mark D’Arcy, VP of Global Business Marketing and Chief Creative Officer, Facebook, has said.

Talking on the theme ‘The Crowd Sings Back – The Best Ideas Shaping Culture Are Shaped By Culture’ at the IAA World Congress here on Thursday, he said the social media behemoth is aware of its responsibilities to businesses and individuals and is determined to open the platform for as many people as possible.

Transparency

Facebook will maintain transparency in terms of data and ensure that people will have control over their data while creating value out of the data consumer provide.

The aim is to remove the barriers and take the ideas of individuals to as many people as possible. Around 6 million companies are using the platform to take their products to people.

Mr. D'Arcy emphasised the need to put fulfilment of duties towards people first. Facebook is deeply committed to innovation and making the tools accessible and available to all.

India is the second largest market for Facebook. Media should shift where people are and where they consume content with ideas being built around that.

There are so many changes around, that we forget the simple things around and the incredible era we are living in.

People have a potential to act on any idea they have through the resources available, he said.

Video connects people and is everywhere as manifested in the exponential growth of Facebook stories. Mr. D'Arcy said that Artificial Intelligence has immense potential.
