Ernakulam registers 1,461 new COVID-19 cases

Test positivity rate at 10.9%; 1,186 people recover

Ernakulam recorded 1,461 new COVID-19 cases and a test positivity rate (TPR) of 10.9% on Sunday.

Thripunithura registered 63 new cases, Keezhmad and Kumbalanghi 48 each, Chittattukara 47, Kalamassery 46, Edakochi 44, Pallipuram 38, Thrikkakara and Palluruthy 37 each, Chellanam 33, and Elamkunnapuzha 30. Kadavanthra saw 29 new cases, while Fort Kochi and Chendamangalam saw 28 each. Payipra recorded 27 cases, Kizhakkambalam 25, and North Paravur 24. Two health workers have tested positive. The source of infection could not be traced in 18 cases.

While 1,186 recoveries were recorded on the day, the active case load is 14,101.

A total of 13,297 samples were sent for testing. Of those who are recovering from the infection, 9,447 people remain at home. A total of 296 patients are recovering in ICUs. As many as 39,149 people remain in quarantine.
