Employment exchanges in district record fall in number of job aspirants

The number of job aspirants in the live registers prepared by employment exchanges in the district has registered a drop as per the employment market information brought out for the year ending March 31, 2012.

As per the live registers the number of candidates had dropped to 3,44,427 in 2012 from 3,73,846 the previous year. Ten employment exchanges including the district employment exchange and professional and executive employment exchange prepare live registers of job aspirants every year.

Though the number of candidates in the district employment exchange had shown an increase, the number had dropped drastically in the Cochin town employment exchange. The number in the district employment exchange had increased from 31,100 in 2011 to 32,062 in 2012 whereas the number had dropped from 60,022 to 48,823 in the town employment exchange during the period.

Aluva town employment exchange and Muvattupuzha town employment exchange also recorded an increase in the number of candidates in the register. The numbers had gone up in Aluva from 35,005 to 36,793 and in Muvattupuzha from 42,333 to 42,994. The register of the special employment exchange for differently-abled had increased from 802 to 823 candidates whereas in the professional and executive employment exchange it had increased from 18,434 to 20,462. In Tripunithura employment exchange, the number had dropped from 45,391 to 37,179 while in North Paravur it declined from 51,809 to 43,449. However, the number of Scheduled Caste candidates in the live register had increased from 44,392 in 2011 to 54,573 in 2012. Of this, 346 received appointments. The number of Scheduled Tribe candidates also increased from 1,495 to 3,361 during the period.
