September 13, 2011 01:35 pm | Updated 01:35 pm IST - KOCHI:

The Health authorities are focussing on disease control measures in other areas like Muvattupuzha and Kunnathunadu in the district where isolated cases of suspected Hepatitis A have been reported.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by the District Medical Officer here on Monday.

Seven new cases, four from Varapetty and three from Kadavur, were reported on Monday.

There were also three cases of malaria and one of leptospirosis.

Inferring from the field reports brought in by programme officers in Kothamangalam, the DMO R. Sudhakaran said that the spread of Hepatitis A cases has been controlled.

The district Health department would be utilising the services of 80 new junior health inspectors for implementing disease control measures in the district and training would be imparted to them on Tuesday.

The district health measures would be reviewed at an inter-sectoral meeting on Wednesday that would be chaired by the District Collector.
