Economic reservation under the 103rd Constitutional amendment violates the basic tenet of reservation enshrined in the Constitution, former Kerala High Court judge Kemal Pasha has said.

Inaugurating the anti-economic reservation convention organised at Vanchi Square in the city on Wednesday, he said the Centre’s move for economic reservation was with the general elections in view.

CPI(ML) Red Flag general secretary M.S. Jayakumar, former Kerala State Commission for Backward Classes director V.K. Joshi, SNDP Yogam assistant secretary E.K. Muralidharan, and activists N.M. Pearson and Shivguru from Chennai were among those who spoke at the convention.

CPI(ML) Red Flag State secretary P.C. Unnichekkan inaugurated the session on social justice and reservation.
