Fears over delay following HC order

Kochi: Students are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the results of Class X and XII examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education even as doubts prevail over their publication in time.

A Delhi High Court order on Tuesday, asking the board to evaluate this year’s Class X and XII board examinations in accordance with the grace mark policy, is enough indication that the announcement of the results may be delayed further.

Incidentally, the board will require time to issue grace marks to eligible students. “I was hoping that the results may be out at least by Friday. But the court order may further delay their announcement,” said a student.

According to parents, any delay in the publication of results will affect the chances of their wards switching to the State syllabus at the Plus One level.

Meanwhile, the Department of Higher Secondary Education has said that the admission process cannot be extended further considering the future of those who have passed the SSLC examination.

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has asked the authorities to check whether arrangements could be made to collect applications from CBSE students and include their marks once the results are published.

Indira Rajan, general secretary of the Kerala CBSE School Management Association, said the results of Class X and XII board examinations may not be delayed despite the Delhi High Court order on grace marks.

The CBSE had earlier said that it would consult the Ministry of Human Resource Development on the court order. The board is expected to study the order in detail and consult the Ministry to chalk out the future plan.
