November 07, 2011 02:14 pm | Updated 02:14 pm IST - KOCHI:

The Canine Club of Cochin would organize a dog show on November 12 and 13 at the ground near the St George Forane Church, Edapally.

On the first day, there would be an obedience contest, to test how obedient the dogs are.

This would be followed by an exhibition of skills by canines from the Kerala Police. Over 350 dogs from 60 breeds would participate in the main show that would be held on November 13. Dogs weighing less than a kg to over 100 kg would exhibit their skills.

Aimed at encouraging dog owners, preference would be given to Indian breeds like Rajapalayam, Chippipara and Rampur Hound.

The Canine Club intends to undertake campaigns to sterilize street dogs and to prevent rabies.

A project is also on the anvil to build an electric crematorium for domestic and street animals.
